The Fabians taught thousands of people how to sail, as they steered the wooden ketch from California to Mexico. Ed considered his role as teacher one of the most important of his life. In a 1988 article in the News-Pilot, he stated, "What I know I've been able to pass on to others without them even knowing that they've learned something. That was my secret." Ed is survived by two children, Lili of San Pedro, and Michael; two grandchildren, . and Kelley of Portuguese Bend. He was predeceased by his wife and partner, Dottie in 2000, and by a sister, Ruth. Memorial services will be held December 21, 2002 at 1:00pm at Cabrillo Beach Youth Waterfront Sport Center, 3000 S. Shoshoneay Rd, San Pedro. (February 16, 1919 - December 18, 2002) A 40-year resident of Palos Verdes Estates, Phil passed away peacefully at his home in Palos Verdes on December 18, 2002. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the beloved son of Versa and Milton Hofmann and moved to Los Angeles when he was four years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Eadie, his children; Cathie, his daughter and her husband John Kanuit, Greg, his son and his wife Roxanne and Doug, his son and his wife Laura; his eight grandchildren; Richard, Brandon and Lexie Hofmann, Lane, Greg and Lindsay Hofmann and Allison and McKenna Kanuit, and his wonderful brother Bud Hofmann and his wife, Phyllis. Phil had fond memories of attending Hollywood High School in their "Glory Years" where he was graduated in 1937, competing in track and was the class valedictorian. He worked at Disney Studios where he met his wife and later proudly served four years in the . Army during World War II as a Master Sergeant of the Separation Center at Fort MacArthur, CA. He was a leader in the scrap metal industry, a business that took him all over the world, and was a past President of the Society of Port Engineers of Los Angeles, Long Beach Chapter. Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn, Glendale on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Union Rescue Mission, Los Angeles and Trinity Care Hospice, Torrance.

Mr. Kunjacic served in the US Military during WWII. He was a cook on various fishing boats for many years, the last one being the Anthony M. \STLnobit1\STLdnot Wolzanski, Martha L. Martha, affectionately known as "Maki" to family and friends, passed away December 18, 2002 afte a long and courageous battle with multiple health problems. She was 81. Martha was a loving mother to Diana Martin, mother-in-law to Ray Martin, grandmother to Theresa (Michael) Cochran, Stephen (Deborah) Martin, Rebecca (Patrick) Gallagher, and Jim (Rosalind) Martin. She treasured her great grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathan, and Vivian Rose Martin and Thomas and Mary Jo Martin. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Mary and several brothers and sisters and is survived by another brother and 3 sisters.
