Hunters who kill a male calf elk or male fawn deer in hunts restricted to antlerless hunting no longer have to transport the lower jaw with the carcass until reaching the final place of storage.

Hunters applying for controlled hunts no longer will be able to make changes to their application. In order to make a change, the original application will have to be cancelled at the regional Fish and Game office and the hunter will have to apply again and pay another fee.

Hunting wild big game inside enclosures that prevent the animals from coming or going, such as fenced game ranches, is no longer allowed.

Fish seasons to be set

Seasons and regulations for 2004-05 Washington sport fishing will be set by the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission when it meets in Olympia Friday.

Basin projects discussed

Fish and wildlife projects in the Crab Creek area related to power production mitigation activities will be discussed in a public meeting on Tuesday in Harrington and Moses Lake, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced.

The Harrington briefing is set for 9 .-11 . at the Harrington Memorial Hall, South 6 Third St.

The Moses Lake briefing will run 7 .-9 . at the Moses Lake Convention Center, 1475 Nelson Road.

The meetings will include an informational presentation, question- and-answer session and details concerning the Northwest Power and Conservation Council's Columbia Basin Fish and Wildlife Program.

Each year the council reviews proposals for on-the-ground mitigation projects and research, recommending the best for funding by the Bonneville Power Administration. Currently, the BPA spends about $127 million annually on fish and wildlife projects in the basin.
